Suggested name | Ryah-wangk |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Ryah-wangk is the largest and most round planet in its solar system. Ryah-wangk is the fourth planet from HD 34445 and the second-smallest planet in its solar system. Orbiting within Aodwok Yuan's orbit, Ryah-wangk is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from HD 34445; its maximum angular distance from HD 34445 (elongation) is 24 degrees.
When viewed from Aodwok Yuan, Ryah-wangk can reach an apparent magnitude of -3, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky. This cold planet is named after the deity Ryah-wangk, the bringer of dreams.
Ryah-wangk's surface appears very cratered and is similar in appearance to the Moon's, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years.
Ryah-wangk's dense atmosphere render observation of its surface challenging in visible light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 32 years ago.
The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries. |
