Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Yoush |
Planet type | Cold planet |
This cold planet is named after the deity Yoush, the messenger of nature.
When viewed from Earth, this proximity to HD 28254 A means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning.
Yoush's axis has the smallest tilt of any of its solar system's planets.
Two spacecraft have visited Yoush: Frontier 7 flew by 26 years ago; and Messenger, launched 21 years ago, orbited Yoush over 170 times in four years before exhausting its plasma drive and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 12 years later.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Yoush due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 3 percent of Earth's, except at the highest elevations for short periods.
A prominent result is the "great green spot", a giant storm that is known to have existed for centuries since it was first observed by radar.
Future targets for exploration in the Yoush system include the probable ice-covered liquid ocean of its moon Axyaoh. |
