Suggested nameOrtania Cres
Planet typeCold planet
It is the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after Ijicar-laris, reaching an apparent magnitude of -5 - bright enough to cast shadows at night and, sometimes, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight. Orbiting within Ijicar-laris's orbit, Ortania Cres is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from HD 24040; its maximum angular distance from HD 24040 (elongation) is 36 degrees.

This planet is named after the deity Ortania Cres, the bringer of destruction.

The polar regions are constantly below 90°K (-183°C).

It is radically different from Earth in other respects.

As one of the brightest objects in the sky, Ortania Cres has been a major fixture in native culture for as long as records have existed. It has been considered sacred by members of many civilizations, and has been a huge inspiration for poets, calling it the "autumn deity".

The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of methane ice.

Ortania Cres can easily be seen from Ijicar-laris with the naked eye, as can its blackish coloring.
