Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Dussto'nere |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 25°K (-248°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with methane thought to make up the lowest clouds, and oxygen the uppermost layer of clouds. This cold planet is named after the deity Dussto'nere, the messenger of hate.
Dussto'nere's thick clouds render observation of its surface impossible in infrared light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 40 years ago.
Dussto'nere can easily be seen from Cresras'iolia with the naked eye, as can its blueish coloring.
In late February 2300, Dussto'nere was visited by the New Horizons probe, which used Dussto'nere's gravity to increase its speed and bend its trajectory en route to Cresras'iolia.
The dark surface is mostly populated by unpredictable poisonous plants, the "Papoly Tis", which spend their life by killing smaller pray. Most Papoly Tis are closely related to the Medeia but with 3 tentacles and vary in size from 80 to 80 cm. Most Papoly Tis are able to reproduce at temperatures from -10 to 60°C and sometimes electrical shock. |
