Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Oupen |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Orbiting within Wenfai Gyin's orbit, Oupen is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from HD 191806; its maximum angular distance from HD 191806 (elongation) is 26 degrees.
This cold planet is named after the deity Oupen, the bringer of the sky.
An observer on Oupen would therefore see only one day every three years.
Two spacecraft have visited Oupen: Frontier 5 flew by 15 years ago; and Messenger, launched 17 years ago, orbited Oupen over 105 times in four years before exhausting its plasma drive and crashing into the planet's surface 11 years later.
Oupen is the site of Robusto Montanus, the most active volcano and second-highest known mountain in its solar system, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in its solar system.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 495 kilometers across when Oupen is closest because of Earth's atmosphere.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other cold planets, Oupen lacks a well-defined solid surface.
Like the other cold planets, Oupen has a ring system, a magnetosphere, and numerous moons, Lernyun'kewaojai being the most famous one.
The largest moon is crawling with dangerous and terraformed bacteria that spend their life scattered in groups while seeking another species called Weng Yeng'k if it is available. They are believed to be not similar to the Agwuqyao'g but with 3 eyes and vary in size from 40 to 60 cm. Tyin'j can live at temperatures from -50 to -10°C and even drought. |
