| In English, Lwenf'yan is often referred to as the "green planet" because the water prevalent on its surface gives it a dark green appearance that is recognizable among the astronomical bodies visible to the naked eye.
It is a terrestrial planet with a mass one-thousandth that of HD 13908, but two-and-a-half times that of all the other planets in its solar system combined. When viewed from Engryuan-cyun, Lwenf'yan can reach an apparent magnitude of -3, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky. This planet is named after the deity Lwenf'yan, the creator of hate.
An observer on Lwenf'yan would therefore see only one day every four years.
Lwenf'yan's hazy clouds render observation of its surface challenging in visible light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 62 years ago.
Lwenf'yan is the site of Ars Mountain, the tallest volcano and second-highest known mountain in its solar system, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in its solar system.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Lwenf'yan due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 4 percent of Engryuan-cyun's, except at the lowest elevations for limited periods.
Lwenf'yan has been explored on several occasions by robotic spacecraft, most notably during the early Pioneer and Frontier flyby missions and later by the Isaac orbiter.
In 2880, images from Wayfinder 5 showed Lwenf'yan as an almost featureless planet in visible light, without the cloud bands or storms associated with the other terrestrials.
The horrible oceans are occupied by large yet terraformed aliens known as "Abwa Sh". They feed in deep valleys by eating a substance called "Zhyez" in the shade. Abwa Sh are closely related to Gyuann, have 5 tentacles and vary in size from 26 to 39 cm. They can endure temperatures from -70 to -30°C and even predators attacking which is common on this planet. |
