Suggested name | Rosathe-pros |
Planet type | Large hot gas giant |
Rosathe-pros has been known to astronomers since the medieval. This planet is named after the deity Rosathe-pros, the spirit of the underworld.
Rosathe-pros's axis has the smallest tilt of any of its solar system's planets. The polar regions are constantly below 180°K (-93°C).
Rosathe-pros is the site of Robusto Peak, the tallest volcano and second-highest known mountain in its solar system, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in its solar system.
The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries. Surrounding Rosathe-pros is a faint planetary ring system and a powerful magnetosphere.
In late February 3300, Rosathe-pros was visited by the New Horizons probe, which used Rosathe-pros's gravity to increase its speed and bend its trajectory en route to Cresgir. |
