Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Waibwang |
Planet type | Large cold gas giant |
It has the longest rotation period (445 days) of any planet in its solar system and rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets.
This large cold gas giant is named after the deity Waibwang, the god of fear.
The planet telescopically displays the complete range of phases, similar to Venus and the Moon, as it moves in its inner orbit relative to HD 108202, which reoccurs over the so-called synodic period approximately every 186 days.
As seen relative to the fixed stars, it rotates on its axis exactly five times for every four revolutions it makes around HD 108202.
The atmospheric pressure at the planet's surface is 60 bar, or roughly the pressure found 900 m under the oceans of Earth. Waibwang's surface is a dry desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemisphere covers 13 percent of the planet and may be a giant impact feature.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Waibwang due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 4 percent of Yagyuan's, except at the highest elevations for limited periods.
In late February 2200, Waibwang was visited by the New Horizons probe, which used Waibwang's gravity to increase its speed and bend its trajectory en route to Yagyuan. |
