Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Chwai-gyig Ye |
Planet type | Hot gas giant |
It is named after the deity Chwai-gyig Ye, the creator of fear.
As seen from HATS-35, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Chwai-gyig Ye's distance from HATS-35 is only about two-thirds (or 92 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
It has the densest atmosphere of any hot gas giants, consisting mostly of carbonyl sulfide. Chwai-gyig Ye is by far the hottest planet in its solar system, with a mean surface temperature of 348°K (75°C).
Chwai-gyig Ye is the site of Olympus Gravis, the tallest volcano and second-highest known mountain in its solar system, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in its solar system.
A prominent result is the "great yellow spot", a giant storm that is known to have existed for centuries since it was first detected by scanner.
In late February 1900, Chwai-gyig Ye was visited by the New Horizons probe, which used Chwai-gyig Ye's gravity to increase its speed and bend its trajectory en route to Oywa. |
