Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Byote |
Planet type | Hot gas giant |
This planet is named after the deity Byote, the spirit of hate.
The atmospheric pressure at the planet's surface is 0.8 bar, or roughly the pressure found 675 m under the oceans of Tesu-pemu.
Byote's hazy atmosphere make observation of its surface difficult in ultraviolet light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 68 years ago.
Two of Byote's moons, Nyoketa Ro and Shachi Me, are are quite irregularly shaped.
The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 13 meters.
In late February 1700, Byote was visited by the New Horizons probe, which used Byote's gravity to increase its speed and bend its trajectory en route to Tesu-pemu. |
