Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Masecha Gya |
Planet type | Small hot gas planet |
It is named after the deity Masecha Gya, the spirit of war.
As seen from HAT-P-18, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
Two spacecraft have visited Masecha Gya: Frontier 8 flew by 42 years ago; and Messenger, launched 26 years ago, orbited Masecha Gya over 135 times in four years before exhausting its pwoer source and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 6 years later.
As the closest planet to Gyaho-pya, Masecha Gya has been a prime target for early interplanetary exploration.
Future astrobiology missions are planned, including the Masecha Gya 3300 and ExoMasecha Gya rovers.
The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries.
In 2483, images from Wayfinder 7 showed Masecha Gya as an almost featureless planet in visible light, without the cloud bands or storms associated with the other small hot gas planets. |
