Suggested name | Mathe |
Planet type | Hot gas giant |
Mathe is the smallest and most round planet in its solar system. In English, Mathe is often referred to as the "orange planet" because the ammonium hydrosulfide (NH4SH) prevalent on its surface gives it a strange orange appearance that is recognizable among the astronomical bodies visible to the naked eye.
The interior of Mathe is mainly composed of ices and stone. The planet is named after the deity Mathe, the god of destruction.
Mathe's surface appears heavily rippled and is similar in appearance to the Moon's, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years. The polar regions are constantly below 315°K (42°C).
The rotational period and seasonal cycles of Mathe are likewise similar to those of Earth, as is the tilt that produces the seasons. |
