Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Byobu Ra |
Planet type | Small hot gas planet |
The planet is named after the deity Byobu Ra, the god of the sea.
Two spacecraft have visited Byobu Ra: Daedalus 3 flew by 35 years ago; and Messenger, launched 18 years ago, orbited Byobu Ra over 160 times in four years before exhausting its fuel and crashing into the planet's surface 8 years later.
A prominent result is the "great red spot", a giant storm that is known to have existed for centuries since it was first observed by radar.
Observations from Earth have shown seasonal change and increased weather activity as Byobu Ra approached its equinox 7 years ago. Wind speeds can reach 50 metres per second. |
