Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Carel Noe |
Planet type | Large cold gas giant |
This planet is named after the deity Carel Noe, the demon of good fortune.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Carel Noe's distance from GJ 463 is only about two-thirds (or 76 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
Two spacecraft have visited Carel Noe: Frontier 8 flew by 39 years ago; and Messenger, launched 14 years ago, orbited Carel Noe over 160 times in four years before exhausting its plasma drive and crashing into the planet's surface 11 years later.
In November 1700, NASA reported finding a large amount of underground ice in the Utopia Planitia region of Carel Noe. |
