Suggested name | Engzh |
Planet type | Hot planet |
Engzh is the only habitable planet orbiting GJ 3323 and one of the oldest in its solar system. Engzh and Yangang are hot planets rich in rock. This hot planet is named after the deity Engzh, the creator of the underworld.
When viewed from Earth, this proximity to GJ 3323 means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning. The planet telescopically displays the complete range of phases, similar to Venus and the Moon, as it moves in its inner orbit relative to GJ 3323, which reoccurs over the so-called synodic period approximately every 191 days.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other hot planets, Engzh lacks a well-defined magnetic field.
In late February 1000, Engzh was visited by the New Horizons probe, which used Engzh's gravity to increase its speed and bend its trajectory en route to Yangang. |
