Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Chumyo |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 78°K (-195°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with nitric oxide thought to make up the lowest clouds, and xenon the uppermost layer of clouds. This planet is named after the deity Chumyo, the goddess of destruction.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Chumyo's distance from GJ 163 is only about two-thirds (or 59 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
Chumyo is by far the hottest planet in its solar system, with a mean surface temperature of 261°K (-12°C).
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 345 kilometers across when Chumyo is closest because of Pyopiwa Ga's atmosphere.
The latest probe to visit the planet is Pointer, which entered into orbit around Chumyo after a tricky journey. |
