It is a small warm gas planet planet with a mass one-thousandth that of DS Tuc A, but two-and-a-half times that of all the other planets in its solar system combined. For this reason, scientists often classify Gofunmyo and Ryoza Sha as "small warm gas planets" to distinguish them from the other planets. The interior of Gofunmyo is mainly composed of ices and molten metal. The planet is named after the deity Gofunmyo, the bringer of chaos.

Like Ryoza Sha, Gofunmyo has been orbiting DS Tuc A within Bahakyu Naa's orbit as an inferior planet, and never exceeds 23 degrees away from DS Tuc A.

Gofunmyo is gravitationally locked with DS Tuc A in a 3:2 spin-orbit resonance, and rotates in a way that is unique in its solar system.

Gofunmyo's axis has the smallest tilt of any of its solar system's planets.

Gofunmyo's dense atmosphere render observation of its surface challenging in infrared light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 32 years ago.

Future astrobiology missions are planned, including the Gofunmyo 3100 and ExoGofunmyo rovers.
