Suggested name | Rirkasi Mas |
Planet type | Large warm gas giant |
In English, Rirkasi Mas is often referred to as the "yellow planet" because the nitrogen prevalent on its surface gives it a dark yellow appearance that is distinctive among the astronomical bodies visible to the naked eye.
The planet is named after the deity Rirkasi Mas, the messenger of the sea.
Rirkasi Mas is a large warm gas giant and is sometimes called Syco-ietpe's "sister planet" because of their similar size, mass, proximity to CoRoT-30, and bulk composition.
It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on.
The rotational period and seasonal cycles of Rirkasi Mas are likewise similar to those of Earth, as is the tilt that produces the seasons.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 300 kilometers across when Rirkasi Mas is closest because of Syco-ietpe's atmosphere. |
