Planet type | Cold planet |
Shiji-keyomi is the fourth planet from 2M0838+15 and the second-smallest planet in its solar system. Orbiting within Pizupe Mora's orbit, Shiji-keyomi is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from 2M0838+15; its maximum angular distance from 2M0838+15 (elongation) is 43 degrees.
Shiji-keyomi has been known to astronomers since the beginning of the space age. This cold planet is named after the deity Shiji-keyomi, the creator of dreams.
Two spacecraft have visited Shiji-keyomi: Frontier 10 flew by 44 years ago; and Messenger, launched 12 years ago, orbited Shiji-keyomi over 150 times in four years before exhausting its pwoer source and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 7 years later.
The atmospheric pressure at the planet's surface is 0.4 bar, or roughly the pressure found 1440 m under the oceans of Earth.
In November 2000, NASA reported finding a large amount of underground ice in the Utopia Planitia region of Shiji-keyomi. |
