Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Berya |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after Nyabe-jakyu, reaching an apparent magnitude of -5 - bright enough to cast shadows at night and, sometimes, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.
It is named after the deity Berya, the god of dreams.
As seen from 11 UMi, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
The sulfur dioxide has probably photodissociated, and the free oxygen has been swept into interplanetary space by the solar wind because of the lack of a ammonium hydrosulfide (NH4SH) layer.
In 2085, images from Wayfinder 6 showed Berya as an almost featureless planet in visible light, without the cloud bands or storms associated with the other cold planets. |
