Gamma Curves

Different applications have different gamma curves. Here's a few examples of the differences, and why they make a difference to graphic artists and photographers. I'm looking for natural colors and I don't like when black becomes entirely black (loss of detail) or when white becomes entirely burned out (loss of detail.)
