Suggested name | Apus-liabest |
Planet type | Hot gas giant |
Apus-liabest has been known to astronomers since the beginning of the space age. It is named after the deity Apus-liabest, the demon of the underworld.
It has the densest atmosphere of any hot gas giants, consisting mostly of argon.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Apus-liabest's hazardous precipitation.
The latest probe to visit the planet is Pioneer, which entered into orbit around Apus-liabest after a very expensive trip. Future targets for exploration in the Apus-liabest system include the probable ice-covered liquid ocean of its moon Cheiaka'ste.
Observations from Earth have shown seasonal change and increased weather activity as Apus-liabest approached its equinox 6 years ago. |
