Suggested name | Herpro'pa |
Planet type | Hot gas giant |
Herpro'pa is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps of Earth. Herpro'pa is orbiting TOI-1298 every 4.5 Earth days.
The planet is named after the deity Herpro'pa, the spirit of chaos.
It has the densest atmosphere of any hot gas giants, consisting partly of ethane. The carbon monoxide has probably photodissociated, and the free ethane has been swept into interplanetary space by the solar wind because of the lack of a planetary magnetic field.
The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of frozen gas. |
