Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Pofu-pipya |
Planet type | Cold planet |
The planet is named after the deity Pofu-pipya, the goddess of hate.
Having almost no atmosphere to retain heat, it has surface temperatures that vary diurnally more than on any other planet in its solar system, ranging from 130°K (-143°C) at night to 735°K (462°C) during the day across the equatorial regions.
Because of its fast rotation, the planet's shape is that of an oblate spheroid (it has a slight but noticeable bulge around the equator).
Pofu-pipya has been explored on several occasions by robotic spacecraft, most notably during the early Pioneer and Frontier flyby missions and later by the Hawking orbiter. |
