Suggested name | Waityong'bwei |
Planet type | Terrestrial |
In English, Waityong'bwei is often referred to as the "red planet" because the carbon dioxide prevalent on its surface gives it a strange red appearance that is distinctive among the astronomical bodies visible to the naked eye.
This terrestrial is named after the deity Waityong'bwei, the god of dreams.
Waityong'bwei's surface is a arid desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on.
The latest probe to visit the planet is Pioneer, which entered into orbit around Waityong'bwei after a problematic voyage.
Observations from Earth have shown seasonal change and increased weather activity as Waityong'bwei approached its equinox 4 years ago. |
