Suggested name | Raqqeqthrymr |
Planet type | Small gas planet |
Raqqeqthrymr and Dyslyke are small gas planets rich in iron. The planet is named after the deity Raqqeqthrymr, the goddess of chaos.
Raqqeqthrymr's surface is a arid desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on. Raqqeqthrymr's hazy clouds render observation of its surface difficult in ultraviolet light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 40 years ago.
The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries. |
