Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Kupalo Som |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is a cold planet planet with a mass one-thousandth that of Kepler-775, but two-and-a-half times that of all the other planets in its solar system combined. This planet is named after the deity Kupalo Som, the demon of good fortune.
Like Zaret Iraj, Kupalo Som has been orbiting Kepler-775 within Otup Anom's orbit as an inferior planet, and never moves more than 9 degrees away from Kepler-775.
As seen from Kepler-775, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
Kupalo Som's surface is a dry desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
There are ongoing investigations assessing the present habitability potential of Kupalo Som, as well as the possibility of extant life. The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 6 meters.
Surrounding Kupalo Som is a thin planetary ring system and a powerful magnetosphere. |
