Suggested nameShokokyo-wo
Planet typeCold gas giant
Orbiting within Kikyu-gyowo Ji's orbit, Shokokyo-wo is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from Kepler-277; its maximum angular distance from Kepler-277 (elongation) is 67 degrees.

When viewed from Kikyu-gyowo Ji, Shokokyo-wo can reach an apparent magnitude of -3, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky. Shokokyo-wo is similar in composition to Kikyu-gyowo Ji, and both have different bulk chemical composition from that of the larger cold gas giants. The planet is named after the deity Shokokyo-wo, the creator of good fortune.

Shokokyo-wo's surface appears slightly cratered and is similar in appearance to the Moon's, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years.

It is radically different from Earth in other respects. Shokokyo-wo's surface is a dry desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.

It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on.
