Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Mepoly Um |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Mepoly Um is the fourth planet from Kepler-1437 and the second-smallest planet in its solar system.
Mepoly Um is similar in composition to Viraq, and both have different bulk chemical composition from that of the larger cold planets. It is named after the deity Mepoly Um, the god of hate.
Having almost no atmosphere to retain heat, it has surface temperatures that vary diurnally more than on any other planet in its solar system, ranging from 60°K (-213°C) at night to 385°K (112°C) during the day across the equatorial regions.
It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on.
The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of water. |
