Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Tage Re |
Planet type | Cold planet |
The planet is named after the deity Tage Re, the demon of hate.
When viewed from Bobyo-yomyo, this proximity to Kepler-1185 means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning. At this time it may appear as a bright star-like object, but is often far more difficult to observe than Bobyo-yomyo.
Two spacecraft have visited Tage Re: Daedalus 5 flew by 45 years ago; and Messenger, launched 16 years ago, orbited Tage Re over 150 times in four years before exhausting its reactor and crashing into the planet's surface 11 years later.
It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other cold planets, Tage Re lacks a well-defined solid surface. |
