Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Wangt Youren |
Planet type | Warm planet |
It has the longest rotation period (445 days) of any planet in its solar system and rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets.
This warm planet is named after the deity Wangt Youren, the bringer of good fortune.
When viewed from Earth, this proximity to K2-119 means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning.
Two spacecraft have visited Wangt Youren: Frontier 3 flew by 50 years ago; and Messenger, launched 14 years ago, orbited Wangt Youren over 170 times in four years before exhausting its reactor and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 4 years later.
The volume of water detected has been estimated to be equivalent to the volume of water in the Black Sea. |
