Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Misto |
Planet type | Terrestrial |
Misto is the oldest planet known belonging to HD 38677 and one of the smallest in its solar system. The planet is named after the deity Misto, the spirit of fear.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Misto's distance from HD 38677 is only about two-thirds (or 79 pct) of its distance at aphelion. The polar regions are constantly below 288°K (15°C).
It may have had hydrogen peroxide oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
Future astrobiology missions are planned, including the Misto 2400 and ExoMisto rovers.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other terrestrials, Misto lacks a well-defined ozone layer.
Wind speeds can reach 117 metres per second. |
