It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 68°K (-205°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with hydrogen peroxide thought to make up the lowest clouds, and ammonium hydrosulfide (NH4SH) the uppermost layer of clouds.

The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of ice.
