Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Jachocali Euan |
Planet type | Hot gas giant |
It is named after the deity Jachocali Euan, the bringer of the sea.
Two spacecraft have visited Jachocali Euan: Daedalus 7 flew by 51 years ago; and Messenger, launched 26 years ago, orbited Jachocali Euan over 130 times in four years before exhausting its plasma drive and crashing into the planet's surface 10 years later.
Jachocali Euan's surface is a arid desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of water.
The Jachocali Euan system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. |
